  4.  Prepare to enter the realm of fast paced action multiplayer games such as
  5. 4 Player Heretic, Doom and Doom 2! Global Conquest! Spectre! and many other
  6. interactive games with more coming online in the future such as Rise of the
  7. Triad, Descent, Terminal Velocity, and other games as they are released.

  12. gaming and interactive FUN.

  14.  It is VERY important that you read this text file very carefully and follow
  15. the instructions precisely so that you can be playing doom in no time!

  19.  DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ON USING GAME CONNECTION!)

  22. Intructions for using the MODEM GAMELINKBBS:
  23.  
  24.  -Bare minimum requirements: 486/33, 8 megs memory, 14,400 baud modem 
  25.   and these files. With 3 and four player doom a 486/33 may not be fast enough
  26.   to get into a game. what will happen is a black screen with music only.
  27.    Wait 30 seconds before you try to exit the game as sometimes a 486/33 will
  28.   make it into the game. If you need to exit and try again ,don't hang up , hit ALT_X
  29.   and  at the prompt hit Y for yes. then type SIRDOOM and enter .you should be 
  30.   back on the BBS.

  32.  -Highly recommended: Pentium 60 or better, 8+ megs ram, 28,000 baud 
  33.   modem, 16550 UART chip.

  36. To PLAY DOOM, DOOM 2 or Heretic over MODEM GAMELINK BBS:
  37.  
  38. -Unzip the file SIRDOOM.ZIP into your DOOM, DOOM2 or Heretic main directory.
  39.  
  40. -Run sirdoom.exe and type ALT-C and check all the options to see if they are
  41.   updated and correct!
  42.  
  43. -After this, save and exit, type "atz" and hit enter, if it doesn't say
  44.   "ok" when you have a problem with your modem, probably set to the wrong 
  45.   com port in your sirdoom.cfg file.
  46.  
  47. -Once it has succesfully initialized hold down the alt key and press 
  48.   "I" (in other words, type alt-I) it should type out an init string 
  49.   to your modem and say "ok", if you have an error, then you need to 
  50.   change your init string, consult your modem manual, the options that 
  51.   you want are DISABLED ERROR CORRECTION and DISABLED DATA CORRECTION 
  52.   baud set to 19.2.
  53.  
  54. -Once you have succesfully fully initialized the modem you can now 
  55.   press ALT-D and hit enter to dial the BBS, now you are ready to 
  56.   play! Enter the game connection from the main menu and ENJOY THE 
  57.   CARNAGE!!!!
  58.  
  59. -For help with playing other games under the game connection, read 
  60.   the SIRGCONN.DOC file.
  61.  
  62. -If you have any other questions, read the file SIRDOOM.DOC located 
  63.   in your sirdoom.zip file. If you still need help contact us, the 
  64.   sysops and we will be happy to help you with any problems!
